We’re beginning to feel the change in the air and Winter is slowly fading! This means we can start planning home projects inspired by the new season. The interior design trends of Spring 2025 include sustainable materials and bold colors. Adding a blend of elements inspired by nature, and lighting that acts as statement pieces will also be popular. The following will discuss these design trends and how to incorporate them into your home.
Sustainable Materials
Using sustainable materials that are more eco-friendly is a trend that we are happy to announce is still thriving. We all want to do our part to improve the planet! In 2025, organic fabrics and responsibly sourced materials will be popular. For example, reclaimed wood will continue to be the featured highlight of any home.
When designing the home, always research or ask for more information regarding the “greener” options available. Sustainable wallpaper, various upholstery options, and the aforementioned reclaimed wood for furniture are just a few ways to use sustainable materials.
Health and Wellness-Focused Design
Health and wellness are becoming more of a priority for many. Having a room devoted specifically to wellness such as a gym or home spa is a dream for some. However, many may not have space for such a room.
If this is the case, the next best option is to incorporate elements that promote comfort and peace. Regardless of the room, these feelings of relaxation can be achieved! Using the proper tones, colors, and materials can go a long way.
Natural Elements
This seems to be a consistent trend over the past few years but it’s for a good reason! Bringing the outdoors indoors is a trusted way to connect interiors with nature. In fact, having a biophilic design has many benefits! These include improved mental health, reduced stress, and enhanced productivity. Overall, it offers a healthier indoor environment.
The easiest way to create a space connected to nature is to use the proper materials. For example, this can be done by adding stone accents and wood paneling. Does this seem over the top for your specific space or inconsistent with the rest of the home? Other options include adding a touch of greenery or incorporating natural light in whichever room(s) allow it.
Bold Colors
Layering colors, patterns, and textures is a surefire way to create personalized spaces. This can be done with unique artwork, bold florals, or geometrical patterns.
Understandably, bold colors may not be for everyone. Comfort should be the priority, regardless of how trendy we wish to be. Therefore, if you want to add a bold color to the walls, cabinets, or countertops, that’s amazing! However, there are other options.
Ceilings That Pop
If you would rather start on a smaller scale, reserve the bold colors for the ceilings. This way, the majority of the room can be a more reserved color. Meanwhile, a mixture of patterns or bold colors will make the ceilings pop.
If bold colors don’t fit your usual aesthetic, another popular trend this Spring is to use warm or earthy tones! Just like using natural elements, focus on more natural hues. For example, a creamy beige or another neutral like soft brown or tan. Or, warm colors like those of the sun (red, yellow, orange, gold, beige) will all be popular this season.
Plasterwork is another option. But, if this doesn’t reflect your personality, ceiling beams are always a classic option. (Both may need additional planning and a professional’s advice is highly recommended before beginning any project.)
Statement Piece Lighting Fixtures
Another design trend is to make the lighting a focal point. This can be accomplished with unique fixtures. While they don’t need to be dramatic, the goal should be for them to be functional while still visually appealing.
Layered lighting, for example, is one of the popular interior design trends this year. This involves using multiple light sources to create an effect of bright to matte lighting. Another option is to use organic-shaped lighting that represents things found in nature.
If you’re unsure which lighting fixture would be best, a professional can guide you through various options. From pendant lights and sculptural chandeliers to lights that arch over spaces, they will recommend what suits the space best. This often depends on the desired aesthetic of the room and home. For this reason, having a professional’s input can make all the difference.
